Generic Lyrica Capsule is available as an oral solution, a tablet with a prolonged release, and a capsule. Pregabalin oral solution and pills are often given twice or three times daily, with or without meals. Pregabalin extended-release pills should typically be taken once daily, following dinner. Pregabalin should be taken every day at around the same time(s). Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any instructions on your prescription label that you are unsure about following.
Do not cut, chew, or crush the extended-release pills; instead, swallow them whole.
During the first week of therapy, your doctor may start you on a low dose of pregabalin and then gradually increase it.
Follow the pregabalin directions properly. A pregabalin habit might develop. Don't take the medication in excess of what your doctor has suggested in terms of dosage, frequency, or duration.
Although it won't treat your disease, pregabalin may help you manage your symptoms. Before you experience all of the benefits of pregabalin, it might take weeks or even longer. Even if you are feeling good, keep taking pregabalin. Even if you have adverse effects such as odd changes in behavior or mood, you should not discontinue taking pregabalin without first consulting your doctor. Pregabalin withdrawal symptoms, such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, nausea, diarrhea, migraines, or seizures, may occur if you abruptly stop taking the medication. Your dose will likely be reduced gradually over a minimum of one week by your doctor.
Whenever you need a prescription refill for pregabalin, your doctor or pharmacist will provide you with the manufacturer's patient information leaflet (Medication Guide). If you have any questions, carefully read the material and contact your doctor or pharmacist.
